Street to Forbes: Rise up to the Challenge Covenant University, 19th May

In an event with over 2,000 undergraduate students of Covenant University, Ota, seated, Her Royal Highness, Olori Atuwase III, on Saturday, 19 May 2024, had the pleasure of delivering a speech at the “Street to Forbes: Rise Up to the Challenge” event that held at Covenant University, Ota.

Her Highness’ speech “Africa, Arise, Irrespective”, themed around a subject very dear to her heart – Africa’s uprising, provided Her Highness a platform to speak directly to the hearts of over 2,000 change-hungry and emerging young leaders on the necessity of adopting a resilient spirit in the quest for a better Africa.

Citing her experience with making a difference at any level of influence through engineering social change, Her Highness encouraged the students to quit the usual response to the challenges of society – complaints and escape but to rather take up the art of proffering solutions at the level of their capability. In the words of Her Highness, “The power to change Africa’s story lies with you, the youth. Yes, external circumstances pinch daily, but we must arise, in fact, it is IMPERATIVE that we arise and take responsibility regardless of the status quo. We’re not helpless, and our history backs this up.”

Further highlighting how that passion fueled by a desire to create value through enterprise has now become the springboard for Her Highness’ current endeavours in social and economic change-making but on a much larger scale, Her Highness again resounded the need to recognize a challenge, innovatively develop a solution and start small instead of waiting for the perfect conditions.

Africa’s uprising rests solely on the reins of resilient young change-makers who must now rise to the challenge of building the Africa of our dreams.
