Cape Coast Welcomes the Olu of Warri and Her Majesty

Cape Coast welcomes the Olu of Warri and Her Majesty

The Palace of the Paramount Ruler in Cape Coast came alive as His Royal Majesty Osabarimba Dr. Kwesi Atta II, Paramount Chief of Cape Coast, and Her Majesty Nana Ekua Abookyi VI, the Paramount Queen Mother, received Their Majesties Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, the Olu of Warri, and Her Majesty Olori Atuwatse III.

The Council of Chiefs stood in dignity as the people welcomed the royal guests with drums, songs, and dances that reflected the depth of Africa’s shared heritage. The ceremony was marked by warmth, generosity, and the exchange of gifts that underscored the historic nature of the visit.

In his address, Osabarimba Dr. Kwesi Atta II highlighted the richness of culture and the sacred responsibility of leadership in preserving it. Responding with vision and conviction, Ogiame Atuwatse III affirmed that Africans are first bound together by history and destiny beyond borders. He called for unity and resilience, reminding all present that Africa’s true strength rests in solidarity and shared purpose.

In a gesture rich with symbolism, the Olu of Warri presented the Red Boat to the Paramount Chief. For the Itsekiri people, the Red Boat represents heritage, identity, and resilience. Its placement in Cape Coast was hailed as a bridge between kingdoms and a testament to the allyship that continues to grow across Africa.

The visit also brought together Itsekiri sons and daughters living in Ghana, who joined hands with other tribes in celebration. Their presence embodied the spirit of unity and the promise of a continent choosing cooperation over division, dignity over discord, and progress over fragmentation.

“Across borders, we are bound by history and destiny — our true strength is solidarity.”
