In a groundbreaking initiative chronicling the power of collective action, the Establish Her project, spearheaded by Her Royal Highness Olori Atuwatse III, Queen Consort of the Warri Kingdom, concluded with resounding success. The Kingdom witnessed firsthand the transformative journey of 255 female participants who embarked on a month-long intensive programme designed to equip them with the skills and resources needed to thrive as entrepreneurs.
Held in Warri, Establish Her wasn’t simply a series of workshops; it was a catalyst for empowerment. Over four weeks, participants delved into themes critical to navigating the complexities of contemporary business environments. From “The Woman” and her multifaceted identity to “Her Business” and the intricacies of strategic marketing, the programme provided a holistic approach to entrepreneurial development.
Week one set the stage with a powerful symposium titled “The Woman.” Renowned speakers Ndidi Azaah, Jennifer Pearse, and Tolulope Makinwa ignited discussions on leadership, resilience, and dismantling limiting beliefs. This introspective exploration allowed participants to connect with their strengths and identify their purpose as entrepreneurs.
Week two shifted gears to “Her Business.” Industry experts Deborah Okunbo and Obiageli Eze Uzo-Amaka delved into the nitty-gritty of business management and strategic marketing. Financial management, market positioning, brand building, and the importance of customer service were unpacked in interactive workshops, empowering participants to translate theory into practical strategies.
Week three saw a poignant shift to “Her Family.” Esteemed speakers Nina Ibifiro Obikubo and Peggy Ovat facilitated vital discussions on the intricate relationship between entrepreneurship and family dynamics. The sessions explored navigating work-life balance, cultivating support systems, and the importance of healthy home environments for sustainable business growth. Notably, several participants shared personal struggles highlighting the critical need for addressing domestic and sexual violence within the entrepreneurial journey.
The programme culminated in “Her Community,” emphasising the importance of collaboration and social impact on International Women’s Day. Honourable Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Girl Child Development Delta State, Orode Uduaghan’s presentation on the power of networking and Phoebe Dami-Asolo’s, Senior Operations Director at Coca-Cola Nigeria Ltd., on fostering inclusive communities resonated deeply.
Finally, Chief Mrs Omatseye, a distinguished leader within the palace, echoed the vision of His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III CFR and Her Royal Highness, urging participants to translate their newfound knowledge into action.
Establish Her transcended the walls of the Palace. Partnership brands like Darling Hair and Coca-Cola offered valuable insights on growth opportunities and business expansion. Representatives conducted competitions, fostering a spirit of friendly competition and shared success.
